Volunteers of America to Join Penfield Fall Drop-Off | Environment
Cleaning up around the house? Got things to get rid of? Well, the town of Penfield wants to help. The annual Fall Drop-Off is Thursday October 14 through 16 at the Penfield Highway Garage on Jackson Road.
Hours are Thursday and Friday from 8:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. and Saturday from 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. The service is for Penfield residents only. Proof of residency will be checked at the gate.
The Penfield Highway Department hosts a Spring and Fall Drop-Off each year, allowing residents to dispose of broken or damaged items that are taking up space around the house, yard or garage.
The Town will continue to accept TVs and PC monitors at Fall Drop-Off. However, residents are encouraged to donate these items when possible so they may be better used or re-used.
The Volunteers of America will be joining the Town’s Fall Drop-Off on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16. VOA will accept clothing, shoes, purses, accessories, linens, house wares, glassware, tools, small appliances, lamps, artwork, and knick-knacks. The VOA will not accept toys for children under age 12.
Acceptable household waste for Fall Drop-off includes furniture, appliances (including refrigerators, TVs, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and air conditioners), lawn mowers with fluids drained, car tires (limit four per resident), vehicle batteries, broken concrete, brush, PC monitors, and other unwanted items for proper disposal.
Items that are not accepted include grass clippings, leaves, propane tanks, chemical drums, hazardous materials, gasoline, motor oil, paint, driveway sealer or any motorized vehicle. For information on Household Hazardous Waste disposal contact Monroe County DES at 753-7600 (option #3).
Please note: Although PC monitors will be accepted; hard-drives, scanners, printers and other computer-related peripherals will NOT be accepted.
