A local salon proved this afternoon that fashion can be environmentally friendly.
Trü Salon hosted the "Fashion on the Green" show for Earth Day Sunday at the Penfield Country Club.
News10NBC’s own Nikki Rudd was there to emcee the event. Many of the models are dancers from Garth Fagan dance.
The event also featured raffles and silent auctions and the money raised goes to support clean water projects in New York State.
We spoke with salon owner who told us why it was important to hold events like this for Earth Day.
"We just need to protect our water and our air and out earth so it's really important to draw awareness. Every day can be Earth day you know every day we have to think about what we can do to make a difference and make just little changes that can make a world of difference,” stylist and owner of Trü, Julie Judge, told News10NBC.
The goal for the event was to raise $5,000 and Judge says she thinks they surpassed that amount.
