Assemblyman Johns of Webster honors Abby Wambach and teammates | News
Assemblyman Mark Johns (R,C-Webster) greeted U.S.A. Women’s World Cup Team players Abby Wambach, a native to the Rochester area, Alex Morgan of the regional pro-team Western New York Flash, Megan Rapinoe and Ali Krieger, as they were welcomed home by the local community. In honor of their achievements, the assemblyman presented them with New York State Assembly Certificates of Merit.
“I am proud to welcome several members of the U.S.A. Women’s Soccer Team back to our area,” said Johns. “Abby Wambach has been a household name to our region for many years. She and her teammates, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and Ali Krieger, are sure to inspire young soccer players throughout the 135th Assembly District and New York state. These ladies represent all that is good in athletics and will play a positive role in the lives of many.”
Johns talked with the soccer stars about their experiences at the World Cup and how proud our country is of them. He noted that these women are exceptional role models and premier athletes who displayed true sportsmanship.
