Charles Finney senior Otis Brown learned by the time he was six that getting good grades would allow him to do what he wanted.

Otis Brown, Charles Finney School Scholar Athlete, said, “In order for me to go to the gym, I would have to do my homework and my mom would look it over and she would correct it. Then I could go to the gym and play.”

Otis carries a 3.8 GPA and enjoys English, poetry and history.

Brown said, “I have to give thanks to my teacher. She is on me so I don't procrastinate and she helps guide me.”

It also goes back to his early days in the gym. Otis loves sports. He's played varsity soccer for six years and varsity basketball for three years. He prides himself on being a good role model and captain.

Brown said, “I'm a good leader on and off the court. I encourage my peers to do their homework to keep their grades straight.”
